I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Filip Sertic to learn five random facts about himself and what lesson has he learned from being in the entertainment industry. Check out my interview with Filip Sertic below:
Loryn: What new hobby or talent have you've picked up during the pandemic?
Filip: I was just sharpening my acting skills I would say. I took a lot of new classes and wanted to learn more about my craft. My favorite is for sure the Comedy Improv Class at UCB. I started doing Improv and I'm really enjoying it, there are so many talented people out there and it's just so much fun doing all these unprepared scenes, it can be hilarious. I'm definitely planning to continue learning and getting better in it and hopefully do some shows in the future.
Loryn: What lesson has the entertainment industry taught you?
Filip: Oh so many. I guess to love myself in the first place. Your worth does not equal your success in the entertainment industry. There are too many rejections and you just cannot take it personally. You have to be aware of your worth and your talent even when you're not getting recognition from others. You have to develop thick skin therefore and I think that's a good thing overall. Also, this industry taught me patience. We all want success immediately but it usually goes slowly and gradually. Oh and persistence. So many people give up easily. You have to be persistent and things will happen.
Loryn: Who is an actor or actress you'd love to work with?
Filip: Joaquin Phoenix is the first one that came to my mind. I love his work. Joker especially. And I'm the biggest fan of Bob Odenkirk and the show Better Call Saul. He is a legend, such a talented man, it is incredible. His performance is just another level. That show made a huge impression on me. I auditioned for it, but unfortunately, I didn't get the part. I also really like Emma Stone, it would be amazing to star next to them in some future project.
Loryn: What advice would you give though interested in moving to Los Angeles to pursue their dream?
Filip: This city is beautiful but very challenging. I would say don't expect that anything will happen in the first year. People come here with the unrealistic idea that somebody will discover them on the street and that success will happen overnight. It did happen but for the most part, it's not how it goes. But still, moving here was the best decision I've ever made, I'm in love with this city and the artists living here.
Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Filip: I'm vegan and an environmentalist, I'm in love with this planet and I'm doing everything I can to preserve it. Constantly trying to motivate people to reconsider their choices and how they affect this planet.
