I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Norzin Chomphel to learn five random facts about herself and the story behind her single "Not In Love With You." Check out my interview with Norzin:
Loryn: Thus far, what's a favorite memory or something quirky that's taken place (in-studio, filming, or elsewhere)?
Nozin: Filming the music video for my song Restaurant Bathroom was a lot of fun. My friends were in it with me so it felt super effortless. Plus the concept of us being in a ‘restaurant bathroom’ made it feel soo unserious. I worked with Rob from Spacebar video on it, and he had this great idea of having my friends and everyone at the shoot walk past the door outside of the restroom to make it look like there were other restaurant goers, so in the video, you can see their shadows outside the door.
Loryn: What is the story behind your single, Not In Love with You?
Norzin: Not In Love With You is about a guy who sort of led me on and it’s about this dynamic between two people where one person has completely moved on and has no idea about the effect they left on the other person. It’s also about unrequited love and how frustrating/hurtful it is when the person you like is so insanely indifferent to you and the way you feel about them.
Loryn: Who is a musician you'd love to mentor you someday?
Norzin: It would be super surreal if Max Martin mentored me since he’s a pop mastermind and mastermind in general. And he’s been a part of like all of my favorite songs. If I could even be a fly on the wall in a studio while he made a song, that would make my life.
Loryn: Who is an emerging artist you'd like to work with?
Norzin: It would be so fun to work with Laufey. I love her sound and the way she arranges her music.
Loryn: What music goals would you love to accomplish in 2024?
Norzin: It would be soo cool to make an album or to start writing songs with the intention of putting them together into an album! And to make more music videos because they’re so fun to make.
