Learn What You Can Bring To The Table with Whitney Bowers

I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Whitney Bowers to learn five random facts about herself and learn more about the latest project she has in store for 2022. Check out my interview with Whitney below:

Loryn: What can you share about your latest project?

Whitney: My Latest project is called Dark Tales. It was a project that we started filming back before we knew what we were looking at with this pandemic. After the first weekend of filming, the whole world shut down and we weren’t even sure if we were going to be able to finish it. Thankfully under the direction of our fearless leader and creator Michael Yosef, we all got together and finished it. It has since been to 7 festivals and counting with five wins and 2 nominations. I had the pleasure of starring in this project with my actual husband, Newton Mayenge—which was a dream! The two of us won the Outstanding Achievement Award for Acting Duo at Indie Short Fest, which was an absolute honor!

Loryn: You have already been able to work with some impressive names so far in your career. Is there anyone you would love to work with someday?

Whitney: Thank you! I have dreamed my whole life of meeting and working with Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep. To be able to look back and have an acting career like the two of them would be #goals. As for directors, my list is long, but a few that it would be an honor to work with are Maggie Gyllenhaal, Christopher Nolan, and Megan Park.

Loryn: What advice would you give aspiring producers?

Whitney: Spend time on set shadowing and mentoring with other producers. Learn about the ins and outs of what makes a production successful and learn what YOU can bring to the table. Organization is very important!

Loryn: What lesson have you've learned from being a producer?

Whitney: Having a schedule and shot list is VERY important. It’s like your map for the day of filming and if you don’t have one it can make the day longer and more chaotic—which in turn results in more money being spent.

Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Whitney: That I am into extreme water sports! I love to water ski and wakeboard!
