Writer's picture: LorynLoryn

I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Darryl “DC” Reid to learn five random facts about himself and what inspired him to become a music producer and engineer. Check out my interview with Darryl “DC” Reid below:

Loryn: What inspired you to become a music producer and engineer?

Darryl: As a kid growing up, I played multiple instruments in the school band and was just always into music. My parents bought me a keyboard in middle school, where I started playing around with producing and making beats for friends. I loved with a passion what I was creating, and decided that I wanted to pursue music for a living. I went to Full Sail University and took some engineering courses, and really took to that aspect of creating.

Loryn: What advice would you give for those interested in starting a company?

Darryl: For anyone interested in starting a company, the best advice I would give is to stay dedicated, stay committed, and work every day towards achieving your dreams. Running a company is not as easy as people may think, but as long as you stay committed and believe in yourself, you can achieve your goals.

Loryn: What lesson did the pandemic teach you?

Darryl: Wow! I think the pandemic has taught everyone something. For myself, the pandemic taught me to just go for it, and not to be afraid to follow what you truly want to accomplish in life. During the middle of the pandemic is when I moved across the country to open my studio in Los Angeles. I knew taking that leap of faith may not be easy, but I believed in myself.

Loryn: Who is a household artist you would love to work with?

Darryl: There are so many great artists that I would love the opportunity to work with, and H.E.R. would be one of those top artists. She has an incredible voice, and her musicianship and talent is unmatched!

Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Darryl: Ha! People would definitely be surprised to know that I was Prom King my senior year of high school.
