Learn How To Take Each Opportunity As A Gift with Justin Ray

I recently had the opportunity to executive interview Justin Ray to learn five random facts about himself and what inspired him to become an actor. Check out my interview with Justin below.

Loryn: What projects do you have in store for 2022?

Justin: This year, 2022, I am finishing up post-production on a children’s show I wrote/directed called Gus Plus Us for my brother and I’s production company, Caster Studios. We are currently shopping it around to a variety of distribution options. I am also acting in a film called Close Your Eyes that is filming in Austin TX and will be flying out to Reno Nevada to act in another feature film called Target List.

Loryn: What inspired you to become an actor?

Justin: Watching movies was my favorite thing to do as a kid. Movies like Star Wars and The Princess Bride. I was a gymnast as a kid and used to dream of being a stunt man in adventure movies. But it wasn’t until I was a junior in Highschool when I auditioned for a musical for the first time that I fell in love with acting/performing. Ever since then I’ve been pursuing work in the entertainment industry, both on stage and on camera.

Loryn: Who is an actor or actress you'd love to work with in the future?

Justin: I would love to work with Emily Blunt… but I would probably be too intimidated. I’d also love to work with Emma Stone, Tom Hardy, Kyle Chandler, or Logan Lerman. Although, the list is probably a little too unrealistic haha.

Loryn: What lesson has the entertainment industry taught you?

Justin: One thing I’ve learned is that there is no clear path to take in this industry. There is no guarantee of work, no one is going to hold your hand. No matter your level of success, or position in this industry, everyone is looking for the next project to work on. I used to think that I had to reach a certain level of success by a certain age, and if I don’t, then I won’t have a career. It is very easy to fall into the trap of comparing my career with someone else’s who is my age or younger (someone who has reached a level of success that I have not) and to allow that to make me feel disappointed or feel like a failure. But the reality is, my path is not going to look the same as anyone else’s, so comparing my career with another’s is not beneficial. Instead, I do my best with any project that comes my way and takes each opportunity as a gift.

Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Justin: A lot of people are surprised to learn that I am an introvert. Actors are often expected to be outgoing. But I am very much an introvert.
