Learn How To Stay True To Yourself with Genevieve Howell

I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Genevieve Howell to learn five random facts about herself and what projects she has planned for 2022. Check out my interview with Genevieve below:

Loryn: How has the pandemic changed you?

Genevive: I feel more grounded. I had a rough pandemic for the most part (didn't we all) but it gave me the time to slow down and really ruminate on how I would like my career to progress. What kind of actress and filmmaker do I really want to be and what kind of work do I want to be a part of. I also got a kitten! So now I am truly the stereotype of "single girl with a cat..." but I get up properly at 6 AM when she does, so that's a plus?

Loryn: How do you think your ten-year-old self would react to what you do today?

Genevive: Shocked bewilderment. At age 10, I truly thought I would be an Olympic Equestrian by this point, with at LEAST a few golds by now. By age 13 I had left those dreams behind for theater.

Loryn: What projects do you have planned for 2022?

Genevive: I am shooting a short film in December and a feature in New York/Philly in May. It's a psychological thriller about dreams I'm really into! I would love to put up a play this year if I can manage it?!

Loryn: What lesson has the entertainment industry taught you?

Genevive: Many lessons over the years, but I think the main is to stay true to yourself and be humble. There are a lot of people who can help you in this town, but they won't automatically know what you can do, or the extent of your talent or experience. Only you know that, and it is up to you to stay focused and show them what you can do. Be kind, stay grounded, don't take anything personally, and work harder than you think you have to. The time frame is different for everyone so don't compare yourself to others who got there first. Also, don't forget to enjoy it!

Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Genevive: People always seem surprised that I was a competitive athlete growing up (and a bit of a daredevil) Equestrian, downhill skiing, and captain of the Dance Team - that one makes people laugh. Also that I grew up on a farm. No, we didn't have chickens, but we once had a pair of goats?!
