Learn How To Roll With The Punches with Brandy Robidoux

I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Brandy Robidoux to learn five random facts about herself and what advice she would give aspiring entertainment journalists. Check out my interview with Brandy below:

Loryn: What advice would you give to aspiring entertainment journalists?

Brandy: Be willing to re-think what your journalism career looks like. In a digital-driven world, there's plenty of opportunity for journalists, but you might not be penning articles in a traditional sense. If you want to be a full-time storyteller, be open to jobs that involve social media strategy, video components, script-writing, or other multimedia elements. If you lean into the fact that the editorial world is constantly changing and you embrace that, there will be more opportunity for you.

Loryn: Who is a celebrity you'd love to interview in the future?

Brandy: Lady Gaga is someone who inspires me endlessly. Her artistry is incredible, but I also admire that she's devoted her career to spreading kindness and pushing for equality. She's a really inspiring role model to me.

Loryn: What lesson have you've learned from being an entertainment reporter?

Brandy: To roll with the punches. To not take anything too seriously. To be nice to people and work hard.

Loryn: What projects do you have in store for 2022?

Brandy: I'm really excited that I've started to pivot to on-camera reporting this year. Writing will always be my first love, but I love trying new things and I can't wait to do more broadcast work.

Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Brandy: That I actually had zero plans to become a journalist. When I started college, I was undeclared and I didn't even know the career title "entertainment journalist" existed. I thought I was going to be a professional ballerina! After striking out at my first few auditions, I got a severe injury and had to take a break from dancing and rethink everything. Sometimes, what doesn't work out for you, really works out for you.
