I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Jake Banfield to learn five random facts about himself and the story behind his song " Sleeping Alone." Check out my interview with Jake below:
Loryn: What is the story behind your song Sleeping Alone?
Jake: I wrote “Sleeping Alone” with my best friend, Kellen Hines & incredibly talented artist/songwriter David Morris & incredible rising producer Brandon Manley. It was one of those songs where it just comes out of you. We ended up writing the full song in about an hour and knew we had something special on our hands. This song has raw emotion embedded within it that spills out to the listener, and I feel like that is a big reason why this song is special.
Loryn: Who is a musician you'd like to work with in the future?
Jake: That's a tough one! There are so many artists I'd love to work with.. if I had to narrow it down I'd probably say Morgan Wallen or Sam Hunt in the country lane and Justin Bieber in the pop lane. All of them are big inspirations for my music and sound. I think it would be so cool to get to collab with them sometime in the future.
Loryn: What projects do you have in store for 2022?
Jake: We are currently planning on dropping singles while we continue to write/record songs for my first full project, EP/album that we plan on dropping this year!
Loryn: What lesson has the entertainment industry taught you so far?
Jake: I'd say that you can always be learning something and growing in this industry. No matter how accomplished you are, no matter the circumstances, there is always something you can be getting better at. Whether that's songwriting, production, singing, playing an instrument, etc... It's a tough industry because if you're not working on your craft almost every day, you know someone else is and that is what inspires me to just keep going no matter what and to just keep learning every single day.
Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Jake: Most people would probably be surprised that my first love was not actually singing. I grew up in a basketball gym because my dad was a coach. I played basketball for 19 years and was an all-state basketball player out of the state of Oklahoma in high school and then went on to receive a college scholarship and played college basketball before I got into my singing career.
