Learn How To Keep Dreaming with Jackie Therrien

Updated: Mar 8, 2022

I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Jackie Therrien to learn five random facts about herself and the story behind her first EP Night Music. Check out my interview with Jackie below:

Loryn: Who is a musician you’d like to work with in the future?

Jackie: There are so many artists I absolutely love, but if I had to choose who to work with I think Maisie Peters, Jack Antonoff, or Charlie Puth would be so cool. I also feel like some kind of duet with Hozier would be so fun.

Loryn: What is the story behind your first EP Night Music?

Jackie: Well I released my album, Dreaming, back in the summer of 2020. It was a very upbeat, pop album. I loved every minute of writing and recording it, because I had never made music of that style before, so it was a lot of experimenting. But after I finished and released the album, I felt like I couldn’t write like that anymore; it didn’t feel right. It didn’t feel like me, and I think for a while I was trying too hard to continue writing that music because I thought that was what everybody else wanted. I finally decided I needed to stop thinking about everyone else, and just write for myself. I wanted to make this EP super raw and authentic, and I was kind of on a “mission” to find myself as an artist. And I really honestly think I have.

Loryn: What lesson have you’ve learned from the entertainment industry so far?

Jackie: You will hear more no’s than you will yes’!! You won’t always make everyone happy!

Loryn: How would you describe your EP Night Music in one sentence?

Jackie: A dreamy, warm, cozy, and sweet group of songs that feel almost like lullabies.

Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Jackie: I love to ski!
