I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Naomi Sky to learn five random facts about herself and the story behind her song Heart on My Sleeve Check out my interview with Naomi below:
Loryn: Who is a musician you'd love to collaborate with in the future?
Naomi: I would love to collaborate with Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift! They both have their own unique styles and vibes, and I love the way both women write their lyrics. They are creative geniuses!
Loryn: What is the story behind your song “Heart on My Sleeve”?
Naomi: "Heart on My Sleeve" is all about feeling afraid to open up and share my heart. When I wrote the song, I had recently started dating a guy, and I was really nervous about letting him into my world, introducing him to my friends, and sharing my emotions with him. As I've gotten older, it's become challenging for me to let someone, a friend or a boyfriend or even a family member, see me in a vulnerable state. This song is my way of saying it might take me a little while to feel safe opening up and sharing those vulnerable parts of myself with you (Mr. Right), but I want to do that. And it's also saying I know I can share those parts of myself with you, so please be patient with me as I am slowly opening up.
Loryn: What projects do you have in store for 2022?
Naomi: I am so excited for 2022 because I have a lot more music in store! The songs all explore vulnerability in some way because that's been a big theme in my life for the past couple of years, so I'm excited for listeners to continue to get to know me as an artist.
Loryn: What lesson has the entertainment industry taught you?
Naomi: The entertainment industry has taught me the importance of having a strong mindset. All creativity is subjective, so some people might love a song or a work of art and others might not. And that's okay! The most important thing is believing in yourself, your creativity, and your vision because effort, hard work, and determination can open doors in ways you might have never imagined.
Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Noami: I graduated from college with a major in communication studies, and I loved all of my communication classes! However, one of my all-time favorite courses was Art History, which I took during my last semester of college.
