Learn How To Gravitate Towards The Light with Kelley Swindall

I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Kelley Swindall to learn five random facts about herself and the story behind her song Alright, All Right. Check out my interview with Kelley Swindall.

Loryn: How would you describe your music in one sentence?

Kelley: Sassy Southern Country Folk Blues with Teeth

Loryn: What is the story behind your song Alright, All Right?

Kelley: I wrote it during a time when I was just starting to gig out in NYC and putting everything into making it as a singer-songwriter. I was waiting tables and bartending, living pay check to pay check (usually literally counting change out to get by on those last couple days), in an awful living situation, and to an outside observer, barely getting by. I was so devoted to my music and working towards this goal of “making it” as a singer-songwriter, though, during this time, I was literally being nourished by this dream and totally at peace, full of life, and not stressed at all about my outside circumstances, because I had faith I was gonna make it through it and be “just fine.”I wrote this song to demonstrate the power of the mind to, in the words of John Milton, “make a heaven of hell, and a hell of heaven”… because I felt, in those days, I was living that quote…

Loryn: What can you share about your upcoming UK month-long tour?

Kelley: One of the highlights will be my Glastonbury Debut on the Leftfield.

Loryn: What message do you hope your fans get from this Alright, All Right bonus track?

Kelley: That the only thing a person has control over in this life is their attitude and response to their circumstances and there world around them. Our perception of reality is just that, a perception, and its up to us to choose in each moment whether or not we let our mind gravitate towards the light or the dark side.

Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Kelley: I’m the chaplain of my DAR (daughters of the american revolution) chapter and super into history.
