I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Camille Calvin to learn five random facts about herself and what lesson the entertainment industry has taught her. Check out my interview with Camille below:
Loryn: Who is an actor or actress you'd love to work with in the future?
Camille: There are so many. Let’s see. I would love to work with Viola Davis. She is an incredible actress with a history of working alongside some directors that I admire along with other talented actors. If I could work with her, I think I would be in good company.
Loryn: What type of projects would you love to direct in the future?
Camille: I’m a huge fan of musicals. Whenever time allows, I’ll attend a local musical or a play. Musicals are the ultimate entertainment experience with triple-threat actors. At some point in my career, I would like to try my hand at directing a musical.
Loryn: What inspired you to be a part of Deadly Cheers?
Camille: I was inspired by the Director’s vision of the project. After having a conversation with the director, Jessica Janos, I knew that this was a film I wanted to be a part of. Jessica and I had worked on a previous project together, she reached out to me about a new film and thought I might be a good fit for one of the characters, Brianna. We had a long conversation about who this character was at the core. Jessica made her story and background so relatable and inspiring that I wanted to bring this person to life. So I took all of the info that was given to me from that conversation, read for the role and there was a callback. A few days later, I was relieved to hear that I had landed the role.
Loryn: What lesson has the entertainment industry taught you?
Camille: This industry has taught me many lessons. The most important one is not to be afraid to go after what you want. There is an old saying. “A closed mouth doesn’t get fed”. If there is something that you want for yourself go after it now. What’s the harm in trying? If you can encourage yourself to go outside your comfort zone and seek out what you truly want, you’ll move closer to where you want to be. But if you never try, you’ll have to live with that regret.
Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Camille: It seems like people are always surprised when they hear that I enjoy MMA. I’m a huge fan of the UFC. You can find me on most Saturdays watching the fights. Sure, it’s a dangerous sport and I don’t enjoy seeing fighters get severely hurt. If you don’t watch the sport, you probably don’t know that each fighter has a background story.
You get to see these fighters grow and their stories grow with every match. I have a tremendous amount of respect for these athletes and what they do. I just love the heart of the sport.
