I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Cody Cozz to learn five random facts about himself, and if he could open for any artist, who would it be. Check out my interview with Cody.
Loryn: Thus far, what's a favorite memory or something quirky that's taken place (in-studio, onstage, or elsewhere)?
Cody: Gosh, that’s a tough one. I have so many memories, I think really there’s nothing better than people watching from up on stage. I see so many random things happen, and sometimes laughter gets the best of you mid-song, and you just have to call it out. I watched a lady sneeze and sprayed the back of a guy's head, and his reaction, as well as hers was incredible, to say the least. I laughed really hard.
Loryn: If you could open a show for any artist, who would it be?
Cody: Definitely Travis Tritt. Which I do get to do in September.
Loryn: How would you describe your music in one word?
Cody: A lot of people express that I’m a modern traditionalist. I’d like to say my lane is the 90s/2k country sound that we all love and miss, so thankfully, it’s making a comeback, and I’m proud to be part of that.
Loryn: What is the story behind your song, I'm Just A Country Song?
Cody: Several things! Country music has literally changed my life. But we, as fans of country music, also have a song(s) that has changed our lives or we connect to a memory. Country music is like a time capsule of life’s journey, for better or worse, and that’s what this story is.
Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Cody: I like to read books. I’m not sure if that’s old-fashioned in our culture today, but it clears my mind. I enjoy the silence and peacefulness of being in my thoughts or what the books offer my mind.
