Learn How To Do It Anyway with Krystle Pierre

I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Krystle Pierre to learn five random facts about herself and what inspired her to start her own clothing line. Check out my interview with Krystle below:

Loryn: What inspired you to start your own clothing line?

Krystle: Truthfully, I started Kalexis Kouture (now known simply as Kalexis) as a side hustle five years ago from my home. I honestly went in not knowing anything without having any expectations. I was a single mom, working a regular nine to five job, and took a leap of faith to start my business after I received a really bad item from an online clothing business. I felt I could offer women beautiful clothing of excellent quality that would allow them to look beautiful, be confident in their skin and embrace exactly who they are.

Loryn: What advice do you have for other entrepreneurs who are in the process of starting their own clothing line?

Krystle: Do It and Do It Scared! I always tell aspiring entrepreneurs just because they don’t know HOW to do something, it DOES NOT mean that they can’t do it. I started my business Kalexis Kouture in 2016, not knowing much of anything. I didn’t have a blueprint or any mentorship. I took what I knew and built off of that. I was constantly learning and getting better along the way. You will never have all the answers; you will never be 100% ready, but do it anyway.

Loryn: What has been the biggest accomplishment you've encountered this year?

Krystle: Taking the success of my business, Kalexis, and using it to give back and make a positive impact on our community. For me, success is about how you can make others’ lives better.

Loryn: How has the pandemic changed you?

Krystle: The pandemic has been a blessing to both me and my company, Kalexis. When the pandemic hit in 2020, I was afraid of the negative impact it could have on both me and my son’s lives as well as on Kalexis. Honestly, the business did not skip a beat during the pandemic. I was blessed that my online fashion house remained strong the entire time. The pandemic showed me that in life, nothing is guaranteed nor is it promised. You truly have to live and do what makes you happy. The pandemic also changed me because when covid shut the world down, my business still flourished and continued to rise when things could have been the opposite. I told myself because you survived the pandemic, you could survive anything life throws at you.

Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Krystle: I struggle daily with being a single mom. I never show my weaknesses, but I have challenges and deal with struggles just like everyone else. I’ve learned to accept and make the best of my situation. My son is my Motivation and my Why. I show up for him daily.
