Learn How To Create A New Yesterday with Rebecca Richards

I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Rebecca Richards to learn five random facts about herself and the story behind her single " New Yesterdays". Check out my interview with Rebecca:

Loryn: Who is an emerging artist you'd like to work with?

Rebecca: My daughter has been introducing me to a lot of the music she loves and recently she’s shared Maisie Peters with me. I’m just blown away by her raw and honest songwriting style, it’s something I’m really drawn to. We’re going to see her in Bristol next month and I’m really looking forward to it. Alternatively, I really like Laura Evans, fellow Welsh Singer Songwriter, I love her country / blues style and I think it would be really cool to do something with her.

Loryn: How would you describe your music in one word?

Rebecca: One word?!! That’s hard. Possibly “heartfelt”

Loryn: What concert would you love to go to in the future?

Rebecca: I’ve recently booked tickets to see Chris Stapleton when he comes to the UK next year. I can’t wait! I saw him at the O2, London a couple of years ago as part of the C2C festival weekend.

Loryn: What is the story behind your upcoming single, New Yesterdays?

Rebecca: It’s a song about a broken relationship and the agonising of whether to stay or leave. It’s a statement that is possible to create New Yesterdays, to create better memories in the future. The person in the song says she’s leaving, but I can’t help but wonder if she ever will. I’ve spoken to so many people who have been in this position and more recently when the conversation comes up, I’ve wanted to blurt out “you should hear my new song, it’s exactly about this!” I’m hoping people will find a connection and comfort from it if they’re facing similar circumstances.

Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Rebecca: About 10 years ago I started to learn to ice skate! Something I didn’t do as a child. I’m a member of Cardiff National Ice skating club and have skated in their galas. I haven’t been for a while because my music has kept me really busy, but I will be back at some point!
