I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Ashlyn Marie to learn five random facts about herself and the story behind her song "Blind Horse Blues. Check out my interview with Ashlyn below:
Loryn: How would you describe your music in one sentence?
Ashlyn: Think y2k pop star with a sprinkle of country, punk, and R&B.
Loryn: Who is a musician you'd like to work with in the future?
Ashlyn: Working with Miley Cyrus would be as full-circle as it gets. She is my number one idol and inspiration and has been since I was 6 or 7 years old.
Loryn: What projects do you have in store for this year?
Ashlyn: I have 3 unreleased singles that I’m so beyond ready to share! I’ll be releasing them this spring and going back to Nashville this summer to record some more.
Loryn: What is the story behind your debut single "Blind Horse Blues"?
Ashlyn: The Blind Horse Saloon in Greenville, SC is a staple in my hometown. Country singers all over the world have performed there and had their share of wild nights there as well. It was my mom and aunt’s old stomping grounds. I wrote this song based on that honky tonk bar so I hold it pretty near and dear to my heart.
Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Ashlyn: In the midst of pursuing my career in music and chasing my dreams, I’m also working towards my B.A. in Performing Arts at Clemson University. Clemson has been in my family for generations and I am so proud to call myself a Clemson Tiger!
