I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Newton Mayenge to learn five random facts about himself and what inspired him to be a part of HBO’s WINNING TIME: THE RISE OF THE LAKERS. Check out my interview with Newton below:
Loryn: What's a goal you hope you accomplish this year?
Newton: My goal this year is to provide the world with great entertainment on their tv screens. I’m also big on people following their dreams so many appearances that I do will involve a lot of me talking about goal setting and plan implementation.
Loryn: What inspired you to be a part of HBO’s WINNING TIME: THE RISE OF THE LAKERS?
Newton: Me being a former pro basketball player I was inspired to play Jim Chones once the execs of the show entrusted me with the role. I love the game of basketball having played overseas and with that said “Winning Time” is a dream TV series to be a part of. It’s like playing myself in a sense.
Loryn: Who is a guest you'd love to have on The League Talk Show?
Newton: I can’t pinpoint one guest specifically, but I’m looking forward to having many of my castmates and execs on the show from “Winning Time.”
Loryn: What lesson has the entertainment industry taught you?
Newton: The Entertainment industry has taught me that we as actors have a responsibility to tell stories that can affect people and stories that they can relate to.
Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Newton: I would say that I am a big Bruce Lee and old-school karate fanatic. One of me favorite movies all time is Bruce Lee in “Game of Death.”
