Learn How To Be In Charge Of Your Own Future with Jeffery James

I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Jeffery James to learn five random facts about himself and what is one message he would give to his fans about this album. Check out my interview with Jeffery below:

Loryn: What lesson has the entertainment industry taught you?

Jeffery: No one is going to be as dedicated to your success as you are. You have to always be the one in charge of your future and the choices you make in your career. No matter who is telling you they have all the answers. At the end of the day, it's your life.

Loryn: How has the pandemic changed you?

Jeffery: I became hyper-aware of my social anxiety in 2020. For the first time, I didn't have any. It's something I didn't realize I suffered from, until I couldn't go to networking events ,or shows, or bars, where I felt the need to constantly impress others. It was quite the revelation. I always thought my anxiety was just always with me. Now I know it's something I can watch out for and control.

Loryn: What is one message you would give to your fans about this album?

Jeffery: This is a hopeful album filled with nostalgia and honesty.

Loryn: What learning experience did you get from being on Songland?

Jeffery: Songland gave me more confidence in my skills as a songwriter. Working with Ryan Tedder on the show taught me that there is always another level of work ethic you can achieve. He was working on re-writing like 3 songs at the same time, while I only had to focus on my one song. And you could tell that was his normal speed of work. It was extremely eye-opening.

Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Jeffery: I'm a pretty big musical theater geek. I spend way too many hours watching theater performances on youtube, and I have two musicals in development in which I co-wrote the songs. One is being staged at Kent State University, currently. The other just had its first concert in NYC a week ago. As much as I love the music I make for myself, I love stretching my songwriting muscles to see what else I can say.
