Learn About What Music Loves Listening To And More

I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Noah Baldwin about five random facts about himself, whose a musician he'd love to collaborate with . Plus learning an interesting fact about Noah Baldwin . Check out my interview with Noah below:

Loryn: What inspired you to start creating music?

Noah: I have always cherished music in my life. Even from a young age, I had such a deep connection to songs. Specifically songs that were a huge part of my youth. Sections of my life are defined by certain songs and albums. It’s such an integral part of my memory! I had been performing on stage doing theatre since I was five, but the first time I had a yearning to showcase and write music was when I would see my older brother playing guitar and gigging with bands. I remember watching him and thinking “I want to be up there with him!”. We ended up starting a band together and through that experience I really fell in love with performing music. I also nursed a deep interest in film and television production during that time. I decided to attend Columbia College Chicago where I spent four years in their film program. My dream in life is to work as a film and television composer. To be able to combine my love for film and love for music would seriously make me the happiest person on earth.

Loryn: Is there a specific type of music you don't like listening to?

Noah: I love listening to all types of music! I’m mostly into rock, hip hop, classic country, pop, and indie music. But I also love exploring a ton of interesting and weird genres. In terms of something I don’t listen to a lot...I’d say J-pop and K-pop. I just haven't found a compelling gateway album to get me into it. If anyone has any recommendations I’ll gladly take them! I’m always open to new album recs from people.

Loryn: Who is a musician you hope to collaborate with in the future?

Noah: There are so many! I think I’ve always looked up to Dave Grohl as a person and artist. He’s been the most influential musician in my life and constantly inspires me to pick up a guitar and write. His passion and love for music is infectious and I feel like that would be such a fun session to do! I’d also really love to work with Finneas. I dream of doing a huge rock record with him at the helm. I feel like his production on that project would sound killer!

Loryn: What have you've learned about yourself during this global pandemic?

Noah: The biggest thing I'm still working on is how to take each moment day by day. I love being busy and having an intense artistic schedule. Time has flown by during this pandemic and being inside all day just starts to feel like groundhog day. So I think really taking the time to ground myself and take everything in slowly is extremely important. I want to try and slow my roll a bit and take a breath more frequently.

Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Noah: I was once on a reality TV show on Cartoon Network called Destroy Build Destroy! I feel like that show was a bit of a fever dream to kids of my generation. It was hosted by Andrew WK and a bunch of kids would build these machines that would complete a series of challenges. Whoever lost had to watch as the other team blew up their machine… I know crazy right?! I did the show with two of my best friends and we had a blast! Not a lot of people know that about me.
