I recently had the opportunity to exclusively interview Lena Fields-Arnold about five random facts about herself, what are her goals she hopes to achieve this year. Plus learning an interesting fact about Lena Fields-Arnold . Check out my interview with Lena below:
Loryn: What is the biggest misconception people have when it comes to poetry?
Lena: Biggest misconception I run into about poetry is that people think poetry and spoken word are the same. Spoken word is more prose, that often rhymes or has a rhyme scheme, but it is not the same. While there are epic poems, which can be long, they are still not spoken word. Poetry is about saying as much as you can in as few words as possible. Poetry has a variety of types and each type has unique properties and formulas that must be followed.
Loryn: What inspired you to become a poet?
Lena: I wrote a poem in fifth grade about cats. I wish I still had a copy. It was so well received by my teachers that it encouraged me to keep on writing. I soon discovered that not only did I enjoy writing, but that it was also cathartic.
Loryn: What is something you've learned about yourself during this global pandemic?
Lena: That I am stronger than my fears!
Loryn: What is a professional goal you hope to accomplish this year?
Lena: Complete another book project. Grow my You Tube Channel .
Loryn: What's something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Lena: I like country music. Not this new stuff. I'm more of a Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash kinda girl! LOL.
