Loryn: What have you've learned about yourself during this global pandemic?
Gene: I’ve learned that life is short and we have to use the most of our time. The Pandemic has brought back into focus the things that are most important! I’ve improved my self care, mental and physical health. I’ve been able to spend more time with my family than I normally do. It’s been healing.
Loryn: What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Gene: Only do it if you can’t imagine doing anything else. Everyday you’ll have to remember why you started and why you continue.
Loryn: What is the challenging part about creating music?
Gene: Creating music isn’t challenging. The challenge is to tap in to something special. Finding a moment. You can create music a long time and not tap into a moment.
Loryn: Who is a singer you'd like to work with?
Gene: Alex Isley, Snoh Alegra, Jazmine Sullivan, H.E.R, Brandy, Jhene Aiko
Loryn: What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
Gene: People generally always seem surprised that I'm a big guy. I’m 6-2. I must look short in pictures.
